XI City Easter Festival

 Easter (or Vialikidzen) is one of the most important Christian holidays in Belarus. For more than 2 thousand years already the resurrection of Jesus Christ is marked on this day. This day which is so important for believers is also accompanied by the end of a strict fast. It is accepted to bake Easter cakes and dye eggs for Easter. These are mandatory attributes of the holiday. Also, it is desirable to visit an all-night vigil on this holiday and to see a religious procession – a truly mind-bending performance.

In Gomel during a festival pass spiritual and cultural and educational actions. Excursions on temples of Gomel, cycles of book and illustrative exhibitions in libraries, charitable events are planned. In festival days pass concert programs, seminars and round tables, and priests hold meetings with studying youth.
